Pope blesses Barcelona’s Gaudi-designed towering architectural masterpiece
- On the 100th anniversary of Antoni Gaudí’s death, the pope celebrated Mass at the Sagrada Família, visited Gaudí’s tomb and blessed the new Tower of Jesus, which makes the basilica the tallest church in the world.
- The centenary was a spectacle — attended by Spain’s king and queen and capped by fireworks and drone lights (including an image of Gaudí) after a touching moment where a blind girl explained the new tower with a Braille model.
