Chicago Bears’ Board Of Directors Voted To Further Indiana Stadium Renovations

Bears board formally votes to advance plans for a domed stadium in Hammond, Indiana — a move that would take the team out of Illinois after a century-plus history.
The Indiana Legislature has created a Northwest Indiana Stadium Authority to finance, construct and lease the new stadium.
Chicago’s Soldier Field lease runs through 2033 but can be broken early for a fee; the Hammond site would be about 20 miles south of Soldier Field (40 miles from the team’s Lake Forest headquarters).
