Bus hits cars in Virginia, killing 5 people and injuring 34, state police say

Early Friday on southbound I‑95 in Stafford County, a bus failed to slow for traffic approaching a work zone and struck six vehicles, killing five people and sending 34 to hospitals (several in critical condition).
The crash is under investigation, state police say charges are pending, and the NTSB has sent a "go team" to the scene.
Southbound lanes were reopened by midday but backups remained; Mary Washington Healthcare treated 19 of the crash victims.
