SMU-Florida State Kicked Off With Only Some Lights, No Replay After Power Outage

A nearly two-hour delay after an electrical short in a main transformer pushed the 7:30 p.m. kickoff to around 9:15 p.m. at Doak Campbell Stadium.
The game proceeded despite major operational limitations — no full stadium lights, PA system, referee mics, sideline iPads, coach-to-player helmet comms or functioning scoreboards.
Fans and teams kept spirits up during the outage (band played, crowd did the wave and tossed beach balls) while league and school officials huddled to decide next steps.
