Yellowstone bison can charge suddenly and surprisingly fast — up to 35 mph — while weighing as much as 2,000 pounds.
A 65‑year‑old grandfather, Carl McDaniel, was tossed by a bison at Bridge Bay Campground on July 10 and suffered multiple fractures but survived.
Yellowstone averages a couple of bison attacks each year; at least two people were attacked in the park in 2025.
