Naming WWI's unknown soldiers over 100 years later
- Two World War I soldiers buried at Hooge Crater Cemetery near Ypres were finally identified after more than a century and re-dedicated: John Edgar Springate and Ernest Albert Stevens.
- The MoD's "War Detectives" pieced their identities together from regimental records, war diaries and exhumation reports โ the lead came from a young Belgian who noticed the graves โ and pandemic lockdown research spurred many similar enquiries.
