Alex Bowman To Race For Hendrick In 2027 And Then Retire

Alex Bowman will run the No. 48 for Hendrick Motorsports in 2027 and then retire from full-time Cup competition.
He signed a one-year extension but has battled major injuries in recent seasons (concussion in 2022, broken back in 2023, vertigo this year) and says it’s time to “listen to your body.”
Bowman has 8 Cup wins and seven postseason appearances; he wants to finish his career on a high note with Hendrick’s support, while team owner Rick Hendrick called him “family.”
