Mamdani opposes NYC event with leader of India's Hindu nationalist group

NYC Mayor Zohran Mamdani — the city's first Muslim and Indian American mayor — said he doesn't support a Manhattan event this weekend featuring RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, though he isn't sure the city can cancel a private gathering.
Organizers bill it as a "Universal Oneness Celebration" for Hindu Americans, but many local groups have criticized Bhagwat's attendance.
The RSS, linked to India's ruling BJP, is accused by U.S. and international rights bodies of promoting intolerance; the group disputes those accusations.
