Nepali woman found alive days after family began mourning rites

An elderly woman in Betrawati, long thought dead and mourned by her family, was found alive 10 days later trapped in a narrow air pocket inside her collapsed home.
A glacial-collapse-triggered flood has killed more than 1,300 people across Nepal and left nearly 5,000 missing, with towns and markets buried under hardened mud and debris.
Rescuers are still digging through concrete-like deposits—pulling out a few survivors (including a child and a Chinese national)—while recovering many bodies.
