‘Best in Baseball’: How Kyle Snyder Built the Rays’ Pitching Staff

Kyle Snyder has turned multiple “reclamation” pitchers into stars — names like Bryan Baker, Drew Rasmussen, Freddy Peralta and Nick Martinez all rebounded in Tampa Bay.
He pairs old-school, face-to-face relationship-building with modern tools (markerless motion capture, framing work) and a heavy emphasis on a well-placed changeup.
The payoff: the Rays led the league in WHIP, finished among the pitching leaders, won the AL pennant and head to the World Series — Snyder is still chasing his first ring.
