'My sex offender ex is fighting for access to our child'

A Northern Ireland mother says she feels "sick" after her ex‑husband was convicted of possessing indecent images of children and is now seeking supervised contact with their child — she fears for the child's safety.
She is calling for laws to automatically remove parental responsibility from people convicted of child‑related sex offences; the government has said it will launch a consultation on family law reform this autumn.
Both she and experts warn there is little support for families of offenders and urge specialist risk assessments, tailored therapy and clearer services for these "indirect victims."
