India's capital part of aggressive electric vehicle targets in bid to curb air pollution

Delhi has launched an ambitious plan to make the vast majority of newly registered vehicles electric by 2027–28 (three‑wheelers from 2027, two‑wheelers from 2028), signaling a big shift in a city desperate to cut smog.
Charging stations around busy shopping areas are already crowded, but drivers complain infrastructure, battery range and grid upgrades aren’t keeping up — a common everyday concern.
The plan includes cash subsidies and scrappage incentives and aims to reduce Delhi’s severe winter pollution, though benefits will take time as old gas vehicles remain on the roads.
