Mamdani puts wealthy absentee New Yorkers on notice: 'You've got mail'

Mayor Zohran Mamdani urged wealthy owners of New York City second homes to "check your mailbox" after the city mailed notices about the new pied-à-terre tax.
The tax targets non-primary residences worth over $5 million, with rates from 0.8% up to 1.3% (for $25M+), and is projected to raise about $500 million a year.
