Powerful Iran-backed Iraqi militia says it will start handing its weapons to the state

Asaib Ahl al‑Haq said it will put its weapons under government control, forming a committee to inventory fighters, arms and coordinate with the military.
Muqtada al‑Sadr’s Saraya al‑Salam (Peace Brigades) recently announced it will split from his political movement and integrate into state institutions.
Other powerful Iran‑aligned militias (notably Kataib Hezbollah and Harakat al‑Nujaba) refuse to disarm, keeping tensions high and drawing U.S. pressure on Baghdad.
