Acting AG Todd Blanche issued documents that satisfied Sens. John Cornyn and Thom Tillis, clearing the way for his Senate Judiciary Committee vote.
He says he rescinded the controversial "anti-weaponization" fund order and narrowed Trump-related tax immunity — but both moves have legal loopholes and may not fully change the underlying settlement.
Even so, Trump still appears likely to retain a significant financial benefit from the original deal, so the controversy is far from over.
