There is no AI boom without these workers. Meta just proved it.

  • Meta is putting $115 million into "America's Workforce Academy," a free ~5-week training program (electrical, mechanical, plumbing, etc.) that guarantees a job for graduates and will launch in LA, OH, IN, and TX.
  • The data-center boom is creating acute shortages of electricians, fiber technicians and other skilled trades — Meta's earlier fiber program drew 35,000 applicants in the first week.
  • It’s a reminder that AI needs a huge physical workforce: people to build, run and secure data centers — even if many on-site jobs drop after a center is finished.
