Kenya police fire tear gas, arrest ex chief justice at national park protest

Riot police used tear gas and arrested at least nine protesters, including former Chief Justice David Maraga, outside Nairobi National Park.
Protesters say plans to build an expanded animal orphanage and a parking area for 1,000+ vehicles will encroach on the park; authorities say the project will benefit wildlife.
The park lies just 10 km from Nairobi’s business district and is famous for rhinos, lions and other wildlife against the city skyline—one reason people are rattled.
